Make-a-Wish Foundation In existence since 1980, the Make-A-Wish foundation has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. These wishes instill a sense of hope and happiness in these deserving children that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. To see some  of the wishes that have been granted recently, click here.

A foundation near and dear to our co-founders heart, she worked tirelessly in 2011 to raise monies for the Massachusetts and Rhode Island branch of this incredible charity. Hearing first hand stories of how these children’s lives were affected by illness, and how much a wish boosted their spirits, makes one realize how incredibly lucky we are to have made it this far in life. Why not help grant a wish? After all, there is nothing better in life than seeing a smile on a child’s face.

ASPCA

American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Referred to by most as “ASPCA”, this organization was founded in 1866 as the first humane organization in the Western Hemisphere. Their mission is “to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.” They work tirelessly to rescue animals from abuse, pass humane laws and share resources with shelters nationwide.

Pretty much everyone here at PYRAMODE is an animal fanatic. Our co-founders have had fish, dogs, and bunnies, and are currently the proud parents of two amazing kitties. They constantly daydream about their next animal adoption adventure and can’t wait to welcome some new furry friends into the PYRAMODE family. A certain someone has had a lifelong dream of owning alpacas and llamas so that may be the next addition. The idea of someone being cruel to an animal makes us sick, our pets are a part of our family. Stop animal cruelty! Oh, and please consider adopting.

  Project Bread

This charity is dedicated to alleviating, preventing and ultimately ending hunger in Massachusetts. It serves as a voice for the hungry people in MA and field over 49,000 callers a year to their FoodSource® Hotline. Each year Project Bread provides millions of dollars in privately donated funds to more than 400 emergency food programs in 130 communities, and also conducts the annual Walk for Hunger which is the oldest continual pledge walk in the country.

We really heart food here at PYRAMODE--probably way too much in fact. The idea of people in our local communities struggling with hunger was enough for us to immediately place this charity on our list. To most of us food is just a normal part of our day at breakfast, lunch and dinner, with the occasional snack or two throughout the day. However, we often take this for granted and need to realize that there are people out there in need of food to nourish their body, provide energy and survive. There are food drives going on all over the country--do some good and provide some food to the people in your community who really need it.

MD Anderson - Fight Cancer

Often rated the #1 cancer institution in the world, MD Anderson has a mission to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevetion, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public. Their vision is to be the premier cancer center in the world, based on the excellence of their people, research-driven patient care and their science. Their wish is to make cancer history.

Based on personal experience, we can’t say enough about this incredible cancer institution. A close family member of ours had a long and courageous battle with lung cancer and was treated every step of the way by an incredible team at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. We can’t thank his oncologist and physician assistant enough for not just selecting and making the right treatment decisions, providing the best care, and extending his life far beyond his initial prognosis, but for adding that personal touch that allowed us to really develop a sense of hope and trust with them. Cancer is an absolutely awful disease, and it affects far too many people. Please join us in supporting the MD Anderson mission of eliminating cancer.

  American Diabetes Association

This association has an established mission to prevent and cure diabetes, and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. It funds research to prevent, cure and manage diabetes, delivers services to hundreds of communities, educates with objective and credible information, and gives a voice to those denied their rights because of diabetes.

Diabetes is a wide-spread disease affecting almost 10% of the US population and is the seventh leading cause of death in our country. Approximately 19 million people have been diagnosed, while a staggering 7 million people remain undiagnosed. PYRAMODE is dedicated to supporting the lives of those affected by this disease and hopes we can all work together to further identify preventative measures for diabetes. This disease affects many of our beloved friends and family, and we stand united in hoping that a cure is found in the near future.

VFW

This organization has a great and simple purpose, to do good things for deserving people; particularly veterans, their families and their communities. Its mission is to foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts and to advocate on their behalf. Their wish is to ensure that veterans are respected for their service, always receive their earned entitlements, and are recognized for the sacrifices they and their loved ones have made on behalf of this great country.

As many of our fellow countrymen return from war overseas, we are more mindful than ever that their need to assimilate to normal life is often a difficult challenge. They have bravely defended us and helped protect our freedom all over the world. We at PYRAMODE are mindful that our business is successful because of the freedom and free markets that have opened up thanks to not only the protection of our military, but also the diplomatic and peacekeeping missions that are often overlooked. We can only hope that our veterans can get a small sense of how much we appreciate their dedication to peace and freedom around the world.
